Tom Perry - problem solved!
I sat listening to Tom on Sunday, mulling over his batting (following his duck) and how players seem to score well/badly against particular opposition. Specifically he was vexed as to why he hadn't been able to score runs against Beaumont.
I told him i would examine the stats and work it into my stat of the week.
I have trawled through the record books, taken into account weather conditions and the state of the pitch. I have examined batting orders, whether we have batted first or second. I have even examined the relative tea lists to check whether there are any dietary issues.
AND THE RESULT OF ALL THIS...........???????
He has never played them before!!!

Re: Stat of the week forum...
Steve Morris was dismissed for 49 in yesterdays game against Old Moseley Arms - something he managed 12 months ago against the same opposition.
He has now been dismissed on 49 on 4 occasions. Phil Walshe and Dave Wright are the only others to have fallen 1 short of a half century.
The kiss of death for anyone approaching a century in the near future (no not you Mark!) is that no Dom has failed to get through the nervous nineties!

not sure..
the relevance of this stat - surely its about where you are fielding and if the ball comes your way rather than the amount of catches in relation to games played? More relevance would be how many times you caught the ball in relation to how many opportunites you had, which is obviously a stat not recorded. A good stat to keep would be how many one ball shots each player turns into a 4 ball shot particularly off my bowling...
