The most Doms matches in a season is 35 (1996 & 2009).

It is always nice to receive requests from Doms players for 'stat of the day' and todays stat comes courtesy of James Hickin.

"what is the best win/loss record of any Old Doms Captain? - is it me?"

Yes Chicken. You are the only Doms Captain in history with a 100% winning record!!! Rolling Eyes

well done that man, now next time you get the honor of captaincy lets not try and bore vast crowds who were went to watch !

I just wonder if Stato could find out what each of the Doms Captains over time scored on their first inings as captain - looks like one to beat... Basketball

The best score on debut as Captain is 40 by Andy Dyke. The others are S Morris 27*, T Peck 17*, J Vickers 11, T Perry 8,
J Anstey Sn 2, M Hunt 2, P Walshe 1, C Lyons 0 and K Ladha 0. Alan Last did not give himself a bat on his Captaincy debut but scored 6 in his first innings as Captain.

Another Poulet request from the excellent win last Sunday. "when was the last time the Doms scored over a hundred runs before drinks."

The answer is only 5 games ago Mr Hickin against Bromsgrove on 25th April.

An excellent effort from the team tonight but disappointing for myself to miss the match. Will have to settle for 103 consecutive Doms games.

you will have to cope with the pain of age better, it only gets worse and more often the older you get so stop whimping around with a stick looking for lost balls and be like Chickin and play through the pain.... Sleep

The most players used by the Doms in a season was 33 in 2009. We are only 8 games into the season and we have already used 28! Shocked

Most Doms would agree that batting has become easier over the last few years as we have moved away from the parks pitches where the first ball would rear up and hit you on the head and the next shoot along the floor - so it will be no surprise that most of the Doms partnership records have been achieved over the last few years - a couple however have survived beyond the last decade.

The record partnership for the 8th Wicket is 59 between Mark Oley and Bob Dyke against Romsley and Hunnington in 1997 and the record 9th Wicket partnership is 68* between Phil Walshe and Steve Morris against Barnsley Hall in 1990. geek

the bowlers are less likley to get a 5 wicket haul becuase of the better playing surfaces - only 3 in the last 5 years and thats including "Gene" Hunts 5 at Eldon Road....

If the batting is getting easier the bowlers have to work harder for their rewards - can't argue with that! If you look down the list of 5 wicket hauls, without being uncharitable, some were against weak opposition and/or on substandard pitches. Some, however, can only be put down to great bowling on the day!

As an example i would regard your 6-16 against Prince of Wales at Wast Hills as a far better bowling performance than skittling Norton (6-19) at Metchley Park three weeks earlier. Your 5-39 on the artificial in Spain is another that stands out as it is a batters paradise. Well that's enough arse kissing - i have a match to go to! Might give you a few overs Laughing

The partnership of 143 during yesterdays match between Tom Perry and Steve Morris was their 3rd century partnership together which is a new club record. All three 100 partnerships were for the 3rd wicket.

No Dom has ever been out in the nineties. There have been 10 centuries but no scores between 88 and 103.

Zero, nought, nothing, nil, not a lot! In 2009 14% of all innings were ducks. This season so far 16% of all scores are ducks and if you add in those that have 0 not out then a whopping 21% of scores are zero.

Last year the most ducks was 4 - myself, Sam and Dave M. This years duck king with 4 to his name already is one Alan Last Sad

Don't do musing - 'To ponder' 'to meditate in silence' or the one that's right up your street 'to be absent in mind'. Wink

Just for you then. Only 8 Doms have a career batting average above 20 (10 innings rule).

John Hodgson, Rob Rolls, Sam Moore, Steve Morris, Dave Williams, Ben Sadler, Justin Anstey and Tom Perry.
